We are Matt and James – together we are Sheppards Removals and Clearances
One of the reasons we make such a good team, is we are friends of about 15 years. Whilst it doesn’t work for everyone working with a friend, we keep it professional and manage to have a bit of a laugh at the same time.
It makes for a good atmosphere whilst we work and customers pick up on this, making them feel comfortable with us. Making for a relaxed moving day or clearance.
Matt’s Background
I am a father of 4, a fiance, a dalmation dog dad and the director of Sheppards Removals and Clearances, so life is great although a little busy. I’m a gym guy, I love a series, long walks in the country and socializing with friends over a pint.
My background is as follows, I have management experience, having worked my way through the ranks at Wave Leisure, up to Operations manager. Assisting in the day to day running of Lewes leisure centre which I did for a few years. This taught me alot about how to run a business, although it was not my own. I also learnt alot about customer service, as I was dealing with the public on a daily basis.
I was in advertising for 5 years, where I learnt how to sell and alot about what works in terms of marketing a business.
I have also picked the brains of friends who run businesses and being part of BNI has also been a great help, in terms of advice I have been given etc. I also worked at Focus Group Telecoms, where again, I learnt a lot about business and selling.
James’s Background
James started doing removals at 18 years old for Pickfords in London, the oldest removal company in the world. Moving artefacts and treasurers for the national history museum.
James had the pleasure of moving all the furniture in to 396 rooms for the 2012 Olympic village hotel.
He has moved footballers and celebrities, the most famous of those was Dame Helen Mirren.
He then went in to international moves for Brittania, who are like the Coca cola of the removals world. Driving all across Europe to, France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Portugal to name a few.
He has worked at a number of the main firms in the area over the years, including Hamptons of Seaford, Roy Ranger Removals and Mark Ratcliffe Moving a BAR removal company.
James is certificated in fragile packing and Export packing. He is also a BAR trained removal man, so we are able to deliver moves to the highest standard.
